Jillian Grams - is Dr. Grams' granddaughter.  She was born March 31, 2005.

At 3 months of age, she would kick with her legs and arch her back

and throw her arms back for five minutes at a time.  She did this when she'd

first wake up from a nap.  If you'd try to hold her, and not let her kick,

she'd scream.  Many parents and health professionals refer to this as

"stimming".  My wife and I knew this behavior was a problem since we had

known and worked with kids with autism/add/pdd/cerebal palsy and other

behavioral/developmental problems.  We are so thankful that we knew what to look for and were able to recognize these early warning signs.

At five months old we became more concerned because she started to

show signs of mild seizure activity (arm and eye vibratory tremors).  She

was overly sensitive to sounds.  When anyone would laugh loudly she would

cry.  If we sang a blessing at the dinner table this would also cause her to

cry.

We had done a hair mineral analysis when she was a week old and

found high levels of cadmium.  We were checking for problems because

her mother was raised by a chain smoker.  Cadmium is a pesticide used on

tobacco, so finding high cadmium in Jillian's newborn hair sample made

sense with her mother's history.

Another sign that showed up on her hair mineral analysis was a

zinc deficiency.  She had dry, scaly, patches of red skin and she liked

food with lots of taste (very salty things and pickles) - these

were clinical signs that we recognized as a zinc deficiency.

After about 20 Hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions her neurological

symptoms went away.  At 18 months, after having 50 hyperbaric therapy

sessions, she is a normal healthy child who has had no ear infections, or

high fevers and is on track developmentally.  She has been sick with a cold

only twice in 18 months.

Jillian has had no immunizations or medications.

Jillian's story demonstrates that early intervention with

hyperbaric oxygen therapy, individualized nutritional supplementation,

and no immunizations can lead to normal development.
